He said: "I am delighted to have Archie back at the club.

"He did really well for us during his brief loan last season despite only being 75 per cent fit.

"He will be really influential for us this season and we'll see his true ability."

Jones made 28 appearances and scored three goals for the step three Isthmian League Premier Division side and is looking forward to his time at the Sir Halley Stewart ground.

He commented: "I am really happy to be here.

"I enjoyed my time here during my loan last season and I'm looking forward to the start of the season and I can't wait to get going."

Spalding will start their Northern Premier League Midlands Division campaign with a home match against Daventry Town.

The league opener takes place on Saturday, August 13 - a week after the FA Cup extra preliminary round tie against Deeping Rangers at the Sir Halley Stewart ground.

Spalding will then travel to Cambridge City on Wednesday, August 17, before their second home league match against Shepshed Dynamo on Tuesday, August 23.

An August Bank Holiday Monday derby sees Spalding host Yaxley while Stamford are the visitors on Boxing Day with the Tulips travelling to the Zeeco Stadium on Easter Monday (April 10).

Their first friendly at the Sir Halley Stewart ground on Saturday ended in a goalless draw with Southern League Premier Division Central side St Ives. The Tulips travel to Deeping on Wednesday night in their next pre-season outing.
