Spalding United host Stamford AFC in a Northern Premier League Midlands Division derby
Two of the in-form sides in the Northern Premier League Midlands Division will meet in an eagerly-anticipated derby duel at the Sir Halley Stewart ground tonight (Tuesday).
Spalding United play host to near neighbours Stamford looking to stretch their winning run to five games against the Daniels who have won six matches on the bounce.
Since losing their first match of the campaign at Yaxley in the middle of last month, Gabriel Zakuani's Spalding side have recorded victory braces in both the league and FA Cup matches.
They have defeated Corby Town and Histon in the Midlands Division while also progressing to the second qualifying round of the FA Cup after away wins at Brantham Athletic and Tividale where Saturday's success set up a home tie with National League North side Kettering Town in the next stage.
They host a Stamford side who have responded strongly to losing their first match of the league season against Ilkeston.
Graham Drury's side have since reeled off six back-to-back wins while keeping clean sheets in their last three games.
Stamford are currently in second spot in the league table with Spalding seventh, three points behind but with a game in hand.
The match is likely to pit players from both sides against their former clubs with two of Spalding's summer signings - Gregg Smith and Nathan Stainfield - having both featured for Stamford in past seasons.
Cameron Johnson also made the switch from Spalding to Stamford last term while Daniels striker Tom Siddons is a former Tulips player. The derby duel kicks-off at 7.45pm.
