Spalding United sign former Newcastle United, Hull City, Charlton Athletic and Peterborough United player Marcus Maddison
Spalding United have pulled off a huge coup after former Peterborough United player Marcus Maddison committed to the club for the new season.
Maddison was with Charlton Athletic last season and left the League One club this week after spending the latter part of the campaign on loan at Bolton Wanderers.
He started his career with Newcastle United and also featured for Hull City who he joined from Posh.
Maddison spent six seasons with Peterborough and Spalding boss Gabriel Zakuani - a former Posh defender - was thrilled to secure his services.
Zakuani said "I am very pleased to get a player of this quality.
"I know Marcus personally and I think this arrangement suits both parties."
The 27-year-old attacking midfielder is looking forward to linking up with the Tulips for the coming Northern Premier League Midlands Division campaign.
Maddison said: "When Gaby reached out and offered me the opportunity to get involved with what he’s trying to build at Spalding, I felt like it was something I wanted to be part of.
"I look forward to getting fit and showing the gaffer what I can do."
