Hannah Molyneaux led Nene Valley Harriers’ challenge at Sheffield, winning the under-17s shot putt gold medal at the England Athletics Age Group Indoor Championships.
The Geoff Capes-coached 14-year-old threw 14.22m in Sunday’s victory, giving her a winning margin of nearly half a metre.
The Bourne-based girl, who also excels at the discus, is hoping to throw the shot in excess of 14.50m this year.
Priscilla Dadziea and Tierney Augustine – another of Geoff Capes’ throwers – were also in fine form, finishing eighth and ninth respectively.
Bourne’s James McCrae came home fifth in the under-20s 1500m in a time of 4:00.83.
Joshua Akinwumi ran a personal best of 8.21 in the under-17 60m hurdles for seventh place in the final.
Kane Wright narrowly missed out on a place in the final of the under-20s 60m.
