Spalding United will start their Northern Premier League Midlands Division campaign with a home match against Daventry Town.

The league opener takes place on Saturday, August 13 - a week after the FA Cup extra preliminary round tie against Deeping Rangers at the Sir Halley Stewart ground.

Spalding will then travel to Cambridge City on Wednesday, August 17, before their second home league match against Shepshed Dynamo on Tuesday, August 23.

The Tulips play their first home match of pre-season on Saturday when they welcome Southern League Premier Division Central side St Ives to the Sir Halley Stewart ground (3pm).

They have added further to their squad this week by signing midfielder Archie Jones from Isthmian League Premier Division side Bishop's Stortford.

Jones - a former Peterborough United youngster - spent time on loan with the Tulips last season while working his way back to full fitness following an injury.
