HOCKEY: Treble joy for Josh to end positive campaign

Josh Baker fired a hat-trick as Long Sutton smashed six goals in their final game of the season.

Alex Canham (2) and Sam Markille were also on target against Bourne Deeping 2nd.

The young home side rounded off a positive campaign which started with four points from four games and ended with three successive wins.

The total of 34 points is the most successful season for 19 years.

Baker showed excellent skills in midfield before delivering a pinpoint cross for Canham to deflect into the net for the opening goal.

Sutton were 3-0 up at half time after two excellent finishes from Markille and Baker.

Baker completed a well-deserved treble and set up the final goal when his fine cross was deflected into the net by Canham.

Meanwhile, the ladies first team lost 3-1 at Bourne Deeping.

Connie Gittins levelled before half-time but the home team hit back.
