Amy Wells fired a hat-trick as Spalding ladies first team shared six goals with Pelicans.

Despite the home team’s early possession, a mix-up in defence allowed Pelicans to take the lead when Spalding failed to clear their lines.

Wells used her pace to good effect to equalise shortly afterwards.

Pelicans regained the lead and tried to take control of the match but were unable to prevent Wells from doubling her tally.

Spalding pushed for a winner and when Wells completed her hat-trick having rounded the keeper, they thought they had taken all three points.

Pelicans fought to the end and snatched a point with a neat finish.

Only a smart far-post save from Christina Dewing ensured that Spalding kept the point with the last touch of the game.

Meanwhile, Long Sutton lost 2-0 to Cambridge City 3rd.

Andy Shore and Luke Jackson scored but the men’s first team were beaten 6-2 at Cambridge City 3rd.
