HOCKEY: Cunnington leads way for Spalding

Spalding men's first team fought off fatigue to claim a home win over City of Peterborough 2nd on Sunday.

Stuart Cunnington's hat-trick and Glenn Richardson's double sealed the points.

They looked strong straight from the off and scored within the first five minutes - setting the standard for the rest of the game as Spalding doubled the lead.

Peterborough got themselves on the scoresheet past an in-form Nathan Davy but the two-goal advantage was restored before half-time.

A foul by Piers Smith-Hughes led to a penalty corner which narrowly missed the stick of Davy.

Spalding retaliated again as Robert Dalton set up Richardson to finish.

Peterborough made it 4-3 but a penalty corner sealed the victory for Spalding.

Cunnington was also on target from a short corner in Saturday's 6-1 defeat at Waltham Forest.
