Moulton Harrox joint boss Bobby Patterson is urging his side to seize the moment as they target glory in the Lincolnshire Junior Cup final on Friday night.

The Peterborough League Premier Division club will be bidding to win the coveted crown for the sixth time in their history when they take on Wyberton in the final at Boston United's Jakemans Stadium (7.45pm kick-off).

Patterson has won the competition as a player and has now set his sights on silverware in his first full season at the helm as part of a joint management team with Tim Cole.

Patterson said: "The boys have got one game to give everything.

"Cup finals are moments that you can look back on and take great pride in when you've finished playing.

"You do remember them 15 or 20 years later so hopefully the lads won't let the chance pass them by.

"A lot of players don't get that opportunity. These boys have earned it and now need to go that one step further and make sure they can look back with great pride.

"We need a team performance and all the boys working as a unit because Wyberton will have a great togetherness and we need that massively because there is no hiding place out there during a cup final.

"We haven't been good enough consistently in the league this season, but the final is a one-off and it's about the boys going out and delivering."

Harrox will face an in-form Wyberton side who are mounting a strong push for the Lincolnshire League title after a rousing finish to their season.

They are currently on a 10-match winning streak and sit joint top of the table with Grantham Town Academy who Moulton defeated in the Junior Cup semi-finals.

Patterson added: "Wyberton are on a roll and going for the title. They're a good team and we know what they're about.

"We've had them watched and they are a direct and physical side which they are good at so you can't take anything away from them.

"There are different types of ways of winning games of football and they are good at what they do.

"We need to be really switched on at setplays and have to massively stand up and be counted in those areas.

"We also have to get the ball down and play our football. We have got a really big pitch to play on so let's do what we're good at."

Tickets for Friday's final are available to be purchased by visiting Boston United's website.

And Patterson is hoping for a strong show of support from all South Holland football followers as they tackle a Wyberton side whose home ground is just a stones-throw away from the Jakemans Stadium.

He continued: "Hopefully a lot of football fans locally will come out and support us and get behind us whether it's Spalding, Holbeach or Pinchbeck fans as well as our own.

"Wyberton will have a good following and hopefully it will drive us on a bit. It will be a good experience for everyone but, that will only be the case, if we win the game.

"We want to be going there to win the cup and we'll be gutted if we don't."

Harrox saw their hopes of a cup double dashed on Tuesday night when they lost 2-0 against Deeping Rangers Reserves in the semi-final of the Peterborough League.

A dominant first half display had seen Harrox spurn three gilt-edged chances before the Clarets struck on the stroke of half-time.

The goal took the sting out of Moulton and a second strike on the break with 16 minutes remaining ended their bid to reach Tuesday's final.

Patterson commented: "We went for it in the first half but didn't take our chances.

"The goal just before half-time hurt us and we went into our shell in the second half."
