GYMNASTICS: Academy aces pick up medals in Tulips event
Spalding Gymnastic Academy held the annual Tulips team and individual competition.
Clubs from various regions gave a representation of the standard across the area.
In the Level 5 junior team, Spalding’s Nell Soltys, Lily Kelk, Paige Owen and Chloe Kirman took the bronze medal against some tough opposition.
At Level 4, Amelia Fox won the silver medal on bars and beam, with fourth place on vault and third overall.
Daisy Cross also won silver on vault.
Georgina Harrison won the bronze medal on floor and vault.
At Level 3, Spalding Enigma won bronze in the team competition with Spalding Estelle fourth.
Emmi Bell won the gold on vault and Darcy Orford took silver on floor.
Miah Farrell won silver on bars and vault, with bronze on floor.
Level 2 was won by Dave’s Gymnastic Club Colchester, with Spalding in the silver medal position.
Alice Baxter won the bronze on bars and vault and finished fourth on beam.
Ruby Vertuccio got the silver on bars and bronze overall, Rebecca Fones won silver on floor and Emma Goodliffe claimed gold on vault.
An excellent competition was run in a very friendly atmosphere. Neame Lea Flowers donated tulips.
Meanwhile, bookings are being taken now for the academy’s Easter camp.
Beginners: 9am to noon on April 3, 4, 5 and 10.
Advanced: 1-4pm on April 3, 4, 5, 10 and 11.
The cost is £7 per session or £15 all day.
