Goodger wins before lockdown

It was a good day for Andy Goodger as he won the latest Holbeach and District Angling club match, which was held at Sharpe’s Bridge, near Sutton St James.

Fishing from end peg 22, Goodger came in first after taking 14lb 5oz to the weights for a comfortable win.

Chris Newton was second from peg 14 where he took 10lb 11oz to the weights from a hard area of the section after the person in the peg next to him had gone home early after not getting any bites.

Robert Newton was third from peg 20 where he took 9lb 12oz to the weights.

Despite the current lockdown restrictions, it is still unclear as to whether angling will be allowed to continue, with the Angling Trust writing to the Government to seek clarity over the situation.

Information will be posted on the Trust’s Facebook page.
