Long Sutton stay top of the league

Only one Rutland League game involving local sides survived Sunday’s downpours.

That game, in Division Three, saw Long Sutton record a 21 run victory at Weldon.

After deciding to bat, Sutton scored 216-3 from 31 overs in a rain-restricted game.

Dan Oldfield hit seven fours and two sixes in his 78 for Sutton, Rajan Sangha 64, Angus Bell 22 not out and Luke Lovegrove 19.

In reply, Weldon managed only 195-3 from their allotted overs, wickets falling to Rob Simpson, James Baker and Jake Burton.

Sutton are top of Division Three after recording four wins out of four, with Oldfield getting half centuries in three of them.

Market Deeping’s game at Uffington in Division One was abandoned with the visitors in quite a strong position.

Deeping had posted 227-5 from their 40 overs and had the opposition at 19-1 from 8.5 overs when the heavens opened.

After choosing to bat, openers Josh Smith (58) and Kieran Judd (21) got them into a strong position.

Connor Gillett hit 55, Sam Malton 37, Jack Martin 23 not out and Joe Malton 10. Smith then dismissed one of the home openers for a duck before the game was abandoned.

In Division Two,Huntingdon conceded their match at Bourne, who get all 20 points on offer.
