GOLF: Spalding's terrific Tillys
Two teenaged members of Spalding Golf Club have helped Lincolnshire Ladies into a national final.
Tilly Kedzlie (18) and Tilly Garfoot (16) were part of the county squad which triumphed in North Region County Week.
The matches over three days were against Leicestershire and Rutland, Staffordshire, Shropshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire.
Lincolnshire now go forward to represent the region at the national final in September.
l The Spalding team of Simon Richardson, Hugo Kedzlie and Tommy Hull beat Kenwick Park 2-1 in the latest round of the Bramley Trophy.
Next up is a semi-final match against Belton Park Golf Club at home on Tuesday, July 16.
Anita Cross was the winner of the annual Spalding GC senior ladies’ competition, played on Monday.
The 13-hole Stableford competition for players over 70 years of age attracted 12 entries. Cross’s winning score was 25 points. Second was Elizabeth Holbrook, ahead of Jenny Wilson (both 24).
Meanwhile, Kay Green won Spalding ladies’ Measures Vase on June 26 in very tough conditions where the competition scratch went out to 77 reduction only.
It was a draw for partners, Stableford competition and attracted a field of 32. Green’s 41 points came with a handicap cut of 4 shots. Second was Sally West on 32, and third Elizabeth Holbrook with 31.

Spalding Seniors had their best result of the season to date when hosting Royal Cromer Golf Club Seniors in a return match. All Spalding pairings did well which resulted in a 6.5 to 0.5 win for Spalding.
Captain for the day Jim Dobson took a team of Spalding Seniors to Sleaford GC, leading them to an excellent 5.5-2.5 win.
