GOLF: Tony named new captain at Spalding

This year’s Captains Drive In took place at Spalding on Saturday.

A total of 119 members took part in the Stableford competition followed by a social evening.

New captain Tony Holbrook received the traditional ball from club professional Adam Keogh.

Meanwhile, 24 ladies played in the second round of the Groom Shield bogey

The winner was Pat West (+1) ahead of Sally West (+1) and Paula Brown (level).

The top 12 ladies qualify for the third round.

On the same day, nine ladies played in a Stableford competition.

The winner was Jacque Walton with 39 points and cut of handicap from Sue Dewar (33) and Kay Green (29).

The annual meeting saw votes of thanks given to the outgoing lady president Jean White and the outgoing lady captain Theresa Starbuck.

The new lady captain is Lainey Macleman and the new president is Pat West. There was also a presentation of cups and trophies.

Last week, 37 ladies entered a Stableford competition won by Angela Roper on 35 points. Second on countback was Ruth Atkins (34) from Brown.
