GOLF: Home win for Spalding ladies

Spalding hosted the annual Fourway match involving teams from Belton Woods, Melton Mowbray and Greetham Valley.

On a warm afternoon, eight teams of four ladies played a Stableford competition, followed by a meal and presentation.

The Spalding team - led by lady president Jean White - were on top form.

They featured Sally West, Sue Dewar, Jenny Wilson, Jacquie Clare, Julie Gooderson, Nicki Weller and Margaret Barkway.

Spalding won with a magnificent total of 244 points ahead of Melton Mowbray (208), Greetham Valley (196) and Belton Woods (188).

Bramley Trophy singles: James Crampton won 6&5, Hugo Kedzlie won 6&5, Rich McCrae lost 2&1.

Elsham foursomes away to Cleethorpes: Simon Richardson & Keith Hearne lost 1 down, Kedzlie & Tommy Hull lost 4 down, Ollie Mitchell & Mark Mitchell lost 4 down.

First team lost 4½-1½ away to Blankney: Hearne & Mark Jones won 3&2, Kedzlie & Hull halved, Liam Pucill & Dave Whisker lost 2&1, Mal Wray & Harry Hunt lost 5&4, McCrae & Mitchell lost 4&2, Emile van der Merwe & Wayne Wallace lost 2&1

Second team won 4½-1½ at home to Burghley Park: Lawrie Hayley & Chris Moxon won 1 up, Mark Cooley & Darren Ford halved, Matt Richardson & Miles Foden won 5&3, Richard Laud & Ton Langford won 5&3, Chris Hancock & Simon Rothwell lost 1 down, Phil Wakefield & Trevor Horrocks won 2&1.

Seniors lost 6½-1½ away to Oundle: Peter Bridge & Alan Pritchard lost 4&2, Jim Dobson & Bernard Herbert halved, Rick Edwards & John Sharrocks lost 3&2, Shaun Gibson & Monty Brittan lost 2&1, John Woods & Ray Andrew lost 1 up, Dave Barkway & Peter Orwell lost 3&2, Keith Holland & Peter Dewar lost 3&2, Albert Jacobs & John Walker won 2 up.

Lincolnshire first team - featuring Richardson and Kedzlie - began the Anglian League with a fine win over Suffolk at Spalding.

The morning foursomes was a tight and exciting contest, taking it to the 15th hole with the final pair making it 2-2.

The afternoon singles was a much easier affair with Lincolnshire winning 7-1.
