GOLF: Camm family dominate
The Camm family dominated the May Day Scramble at Spalding Golf Club.
Steve Camm, wife Amanda and daughter Elie, with their partner Mick Bell, again took the honours with an all-conquering score of 52.28. Runners up were Calum Lewis, Hugo Kedzlie, Tom Langford and Will Langford with 52.85.
The Bramley Trophy singles knockout competition match against Sudbrook Moor Golf Club saw Spalding emerging victorious 3-0. James Crampton and Hugo Kedzlie both won 4 and 3 and Tommy Hull won, 1up.
Calum Lewis won the Midweek nine-hole Stablefordwith a score of 23. Other leading players were: 2 Nigel Prue 18, 3 Wayne Wallace 15, 4 John Spencer 14, 5 Dave Fitter 7.A field of 128 competitors contested the Saturday Medal and a tight tournament saw Calum Lewis emerge the winner with a score of 67, one shot clear of Monty Brittain and Paul Johnson. Spalding Golf Club ladies played a second round match of the Annodata knock out competition (having had a bye in the first round)at home to Sleaford on Saturday.
Claire Rylott took her match to the 18th where it ended in a half, while Paula Brown and Lesley Williams both won their matches on the 18th, and Elizabeth Holbrook had a comfortable victory, 5 & 3.
Mathilde Kedzlie also had a good win, 4 & 2, as the Spalding ladies won 4 ½ to ½ .
• Spalding Golf Club steward Robert Richer has retired after 31 years service.
A party was held in the clubhouse on Saturday to thank him for his service to the club and to wish him well for the future. Also retiring is Christine Taylor, who has worked in the club bar and restaurant for more than 18 years.
