Spalding cyclists getting ready for new season
Riders from Spalding Cycling Club are getting in gear for the coming campaign with a virtual time trial competition.
They are competing against each other and riders from other nearby clubs in three events, with the opening round taking place last week.
The Spalding club filled four of the top five spots behind first stage winner Matt Elworthy from Boston who posted the quickest time of 23mins 38secs.
Spalding’s Neil Palmer took second spot in 24.42 with Mark Hills in third place after recording a time of 25.11
Andy Bowser was fourth in 25.16 with Elliott Stones close behind in fifth spot with his time of 25.34.
Bourne’s Nick Leaton was seventh in 26.26 after holding off the challenge of a flurry of Spalding
riders.
Matt Chappell finished ninth in 26.55 with Juan Jose Lopez Romero (27.04), Gareth Richards (27.20) and Chris Bettinson (28.50) in the next three places.
