Former Spalding player Stainfield signs for Stamford
Popular former Spalding United skipper Nathan Stainfield has signed for the Tulips’ Northern Premier League South East Division neighbours Stamford.
The commanding defender was an integral part of the Spalding side which reached the league play-offs in 2017.
His exploits at the Sir Halley Stewart ground then earned him a move to higher level Gainsborough Trinity.
He has been playing for Newark FC this season before dual registering with Stamford who are managed by ex-Holbeach United co-boss Graham Drury.
Drury said: “I worked with Nathan at Boston United and, although he was only a young lad then, you could tell that he was a winner.
“He gave everything week in, week out, even in training sessions. He is very professional and a player who is big, strong and dominant aerially.
“He should still be playing National League North levels and has experience of that standard.
“He is someone that I have tried to sign for the last four seasons so to get him on forms is great news for us.”
