TULIPS: Routed by Linnets

Have your say

SPALDING UTD 0 KING’S LYNN TOWN 4 (Beaumont 23 & 85; Defty 29; White 70): The gulf between proper title challengers and also-rans was clearly evident on Tuesday night.

Once the Linnets got their noses in front with Danny Beaumont converting Jordan Yong’s cross on 23 minutes, the result was never in doubt.

A Jack Defty far-post header gave them a 2-0 half-time lead and the Norfolk side’s dominance was even greater in the second half.

Danny White brilliantly steered a header in from a Jamie Thurlbourne centre and Beaumont’s second goal late on did not flatter the visitors.

The closest the Tulips came to scoring was an early Ryan O’Loughlin effort which crashed off keeper Alex Street’s legs.

The vast majority of the 425 crowd left happy.
