SPALDING United have been dealt a crushing blow as leading scorer Tony Onokah has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

The hulking frontman has missed the past few months with a knee ligament injury – and Tulips player/boss Richard Scott doesn’t expect to have him available for some time.

Scott tried to replace the hitman with St Ives Town’s Danny Matson, but the striker has snubbed a move to the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field.

It leaves Spalding short of attacking options for Saturday’s home clash with Goole AFC (3pm).

However, Scott does hope to have Danny Steadman at his disposal.

He can speak to the Grantham Town midfielder after launching a seven-day notice of approach for the ex-Stamford man.

The Tulips have no new injury concerns ahead of the clash, with Matty Evans again expected to fill the void left by Ross Miller at right back.
