Holbeach United 1 King’s Lynn Town FC 3: TWO goals in the last five minutes denied the gutsy Tigers a deserved point on Wednesday night.
The high-flying Linnets threatened to run riot at Carter’s Park early on, as Stephen Spriggs latched onto a Jack Defty knock down to fire home the opener.
But Holbeach weathered the storm and twice went close to levelling before the break, with Simon Mowbray firing into the side netting and Jonny Allen missing a fantastic one-on-one chance.
There was little between the teams after the break and you sensed the Tigers had a goal in them - and so it proved.
It was skipper Omar Joof who pounced on a loose ball to force home the leveller on 75 minutes.
This seemed to wake Lynn up though, as a quick smash and grab double sealed all three points.
First, Defty slammed home his 22nd of the season from close range, before Spriggs doubled his tally with a neat finish.
Holbeach stay in the bottom three, but boss John Chand will be buoyed by a strong display infront of a bumper 350 plus crowd.
