TIGERS: Chand fearful of elements

Have your say

Daventry Utd v Holbeach Utd (Sat, 3pm): JOHN Chand fears the Tigers will be without a game for the third weekend on the spin.

More snow and ice is forecast this week – which spells disaster for Non-League football fixtures across the country.

But the Tigers did warm up for the potential clash with a 3-2 victory over a Boston United XI at Sleaford’s 3G pitch on Monday night.

Lee Orrey helped himself to a brace, while Mitch Griffiths was also on target.

Holbeach boss Chand said: “You have to remain positive, but the reality is that the forecast isn’t good.

“I hope the game is on, having played so well on Monday we’ve built some momentum.”

Ninth-placed Daventry are one of the few UCL Premier Division sides to see any action in recent weeks, having lost 3-0 to Irchester United on Tuesday night.

But their Communications Park home hasn’t hosted a fixture since November 20.

Should the game go ahead, Matt Warfield and Pete Smith will be banned.
