TIGERS: Boss eyes Cogenhoe revenge, signs Stevens

Have your say

Revenge is on John Chand’s mind as Holbeach United look to get their UCL Premier Division title tilt back on track.

The runaway leaders welcome bogey side Cogenhoe United to Carter’s Park on Saturday (3pm), bidding to keep their 17-point cushion at the top intact.

But the Cooks are the only side to beat the Tigers since October 31, having rolled them over 2-0 in the Compton Park reverse last month.

“We shouldn’t have lost that day,” recalls Tigers chief Chand. “It was the ultimate smash and grab.

“We didn’t deserve to lose and want to set the record straight. It’s important that we get back playing again and focus on winning.

“Another win on Saturday would leave us in a very strong position title-wise.”

Chand has also added a familiar face to his squad. He’s snapped up striker Ashley Stevens from rivals Deeping Rangers after holding positive talks with the player who notched 25 times for Holbeach last season.

Stevens started this season with Spalding United, before making a move back to Outgang Road.

Chand has also put in an approach for Boston United’s young forward Jordan Nuttell, but a loan move for Lincoln City attacker Bradley Barraclough has failed, with the hitman not wanting to drop down to the UCL.
