SATURDAY FOOTBALL: Wins for Deeping and Bourne as Tigers and Tulips see games rained off

Have your say

Deeping Rangers and Bourne Town were both 3-2 winners on Saturday, while Holbeach United and Spalding United saw their UCL Premier Division games called off.

A last-minute Alex Beck winner earned Deeping a thrilling UCL Premier Division win at Shepshed Dynamo, keeping them in a hunt for a top four finish.

Beck had earlier cancelled out a Dynamo opener in the first half, before Matt Heron put Tuncay Korkmaz’s men ahead for the first time early in the second period.

Meanwhile, the Tigers’ trip to Yaxley and Spalding’s away clash at Wellingborough Town both fell foul of the weather, with both pitches deemed waterlogged.

Second-placed St Ives Town were in action though – and they cut Holbeach’s lead to eight points with a 3-1 win at Harborough Town.

In UCL Division One, Bourne Town won a cracker with Potton United 3-2 at the Abbey Lawn, keeping their fine form in 2013 going.

It was a cracking day for Moulton Harrox in the Peterborough and District League Premier Division, as they beat title rivals Netherton United 2-0 on their own patch and saw leaders Peterborough Sports stunned 5-1 at home by lowly Leverington Sports.

Also in the Premier Division, Crowland Town won 7-3 at home to Kings Cliffe United and Deeping Rangers Reserves edged out Whittlesey United 5-4 in home soil.

In Division One, Long Sutton Athletic were 4-2 winners at Ryhall United and Sutton Bridge United lost 5-2 at home to Netherton Reserves.

All results to follow, with more football coming in Tuesday’s Lincolnshire Free Press.
