S & L CORBY 0 DEEPING RANGERS 1 (Heron 33): TUNCAY Korkmaz believes Deeping could still gatecrash the UCL Premier Division’s top three after this cracking away victory.
Matt Heron’s poked first-half finish was enough to extend Rangers’ unbeaten league streak to six games – five of which have been wins.
Deeping are currently ten points behind third-placed Holbeach United, with a game in hand. And although Korkmaz insists finishing in the top six is the aim, he’s not ruling out the top three just yet.
The Rangers player/boss said: “The aim for the season was always top six, but if we keep winning third is a possibility – providing the other teams slip up.
“We’re close to having everyone fit now and it’s showing in our results.
“It’s always going to be a tricky game at S & L, but the wind made it that much harder. It wasn’t a great game, but was good to keep a clean sheet and nobody can say we didn’t deserve it.
“We created enough chances to win by more.”
Heron’s 33rd minute winner was his 19th of the season – and he’s now just one goal away from becoming the third Deeping player to pass 20 this campaign.
Leading scorer Josh Moreman (27) and Mark Jones (25) got there first.
Deeping: Doughty, Tinkler, Jackson, Logan, Julian, Weston, Beck (Holt), Burton-Jones, Ginty (Maddox), Heron, Moreman. Not used: Barber.
