Bourne Town boss Rafa Mazzarella is prepared to give “the benefit of the doubt” to last season’s squad.
He took charge of the Wakes this summer after a disappointing campaign in the United Counties League Division One.
Bourne begin their pre-season programme tonight against Stilton before another home game with Riverside on Tuesday.
Mazzarella said: “We’ve had a few sessions to get back into it but we are nowhere near where we need to finish.
“A lot of new players have come in and I still need to see plenty of last season’s squad.
“They will be given the benefit of the doubt until I make my mind up about the squad.
“They will play in the majority of our friendlies and at the moment everyone seems in pretty good spirits.
“I’ve been pleased with the integration of the first-team squad and reserves training together as well. They are all keen and looking forward to the season.”
However, Bourne were dealt a blow with the news that central midfielder Dan Mason has been ruled out for up to two months with ankle ligament damage suffered in pre-season training.
Off the pitch, meanwhile, club stalwart Darren Munton – who stepped down as manager at the end of last season – has been appointed joint-chairman with Steve Elger at the annual general meeting.
