Holbeach United won the UCL Premier Division Fenland derby with a 2-0 win at Wisbech Town but Spalding United and Bourne Town both lost by the same scoreline.

The Tulips suffered only their second league defeat of the season, losing 2-0 at Huntingdon Town who are now four points clear of Deeping Rangers in second place with a game in hand.

But it was better news for the Tigers after goals from Kieran Elliott and Tom Sergeant earned Glen Maddison’s side their second league win in a row.

Demotion-threatened Bourne Town went three home games without a win, losing 2-0 to third-placed Eynesbury Rovers at Abbey Lawn.

In rugby union, Spalding made sure of their place in the Midlands Two East promotion play-off game with a 70-13 annihilation of Bakewell Mannerians.

Town ran in 12 tries under the watchful eye of England 2003 Rugby World Cup winner Richard Hill MBE who was at Memorial Park in his capacity as a grassroots rugby coach.

Spalding now host Newbold on Avon of Warwickshire on April for the right to play in the Midlands One East division next season.
