HOLBEACH UNITED 3 (Brown 20, Tidswell 55, Griffiths 70) BOSTON TOWN 2 (Beck 81, Borbely 85): HOLBEACH completed a memorable UCL Premier Division double over one of their chief rivals on Wednesday night – but were given a real fright by the nine-man Poachers.
Ben Brown (20) nodded home the only goal of a fiery first half at Carter’s Park, before Boston’s Jack Smith was dismissed for an off the ball incident involving Ashley Stevens.
The excellent Andrew Tidswell doubled Holbeach’s money soon after with a superb volley and it looked to be game over when Town’s Kieran Davies became the second man sent off in an incident that saw Lewis Brooks win a penalty.
A superb Chris Wright save denied Brooks from the spot, but it wasn’t long before Mitch Griffiths tapped home the third at the back post.
Incredibly, Boston then launched a stunning fightback. Alex Beck turned home what looked like an 83rd-minute consolation, before the combination of Lorand Borbely and Brown bundled home a second.
But Holbeach held on to make it three wins on the spin against the Poachers – and move them up to seventh in the table, with games in hand on four of the teams above them.
More to follow.
