TIGERS: Derby delight as Brown sinks ten-man Boston

Have your say

BOSTON TOWN 1 HOLBEACH UNITED 2: BEN Brown’s first Holbeach goal was enough to secure all three points in a fiery derby at Tattershall Road on Tuesday night.

The Tigers got off to the perfect start when Ashley Stevens bundled home a goal-bound Paul Goodhand free-kick on three minutes, but the Poachers levelled ten minutes later through a Tom James header.

Tempers boiled over soon after, with Boston striker Danny Matson sent off for appearing to elbow Jamie Stevens. It was the most serious of a number of unsavoury incidents throughout the game.

Despite being down to ten men, Town more than held their own until the 65th minute when defender Brown buried a Jamie Stevens cross into the roof of the net.

From then on it was all Holbeach as Ash Stevens had two goals correctly ruled out and Tommy Treacher fired just over with a spectacular 35 yard lob.

John Chand’s side were jubilant at the final whistle as they secured their first win of the UCL Premier Division season.
