Three first-half goals sent Holbeach United crashing to defeat in their fourth game in eight days.

The Tigers’ faint title challenge was all but ended as Kirby Muxloe avenged the Knockout Cup defeat earlier this season.

Aaron Love opened the scoring on the quarter hour with Liam Pescott scoring a second two minutes later.

A third strike from Dan Sheahan after 25 minutes gave the Tigers a mountain to climb.

Despite their punishing recent fixture schedule Holbeach made a good go of it in the second period, reducing the arrears through Jake Clitheroe after 52 minutes.

However, Josh Ford’s 24th goal of the season three minutes from full-time was too little too late for the Tigers to salvage any reward from this one.

Meanwhile, AFC Kempston Rovers lost vital ground in the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division title race as they dropped points on their bogey ground.

Deeping Rangers had won the last four meetings of the clubs at the Haydon Whitham Stadium and they looked set to extend the sequence when Will Bird gave them the lead on 57 minutes.

A 71st-minute equaliser from Josh Crawley gave Kempston a vital point but they now trail title rivals Leicester Nirvana by two points with six games each to play.

Neal Spafford’s early opener for Spalding United was cancelled out by Daniel Edwards two minutes before the break as Chasetown took a point in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League’s First Division South.
