Holbeach United manager Tom Roberts is wary of the threat from last season’s Division One champions Northampton Spencer.

The Tigers needed a couple of penalties converted by Josh Ford in a two-minute spell to earn a point against Spencer at Carter’s Park in August.

They meet at Kingsthorpe Mill on Saturday as Holbeach hope for another boost to their title bid following last weekend’s 4-2 home win over Peterborough Northern Star.

Roberts said: “We know Spencer are not a bad side and they have earned the right to play at this level.

“They have picked up some good results so we’ve got to be wary of those areas where we know they are dangerous.

“However, we must take care of ourselves and not worry too much about other people.

“We stuck together and had a good spell after Nick Jackson’s sending-off against Northern Star.

“The first half was very pleasing and after the break we were very resilient with 10 men.”

Jake Clitheroe returns to the squad this weekend but Ollie Pinner is unavailable along with Jamie Stevens, Stacy Cartwright and Tom Gosling who are all banned.
