Goalkeeper Sam Vince is set to join Holbeach United on a three-month loan from Boston United.

Pilgrims boss Dennis Greene says the thought of returning to regular action has added a spring to the youngster’s step.

“Holbeach have shown an interest and he’s looked better for it,” Greene revealed.

“I think he’s going to go out on loan there.

“He’s trained much better, he’s looked a lot sharper and he’s looked like he’s got his enthusiasm back.

“He’ll go out on loan. His attitude around the club has been better and hopefully this’ll give him a new lease of life.

“He’s no way done around the football club, he’s an exciting prospect.

“But he just needs to get back to where he was when I joined the football club, where he looked like he had the potential to be a really good goalkeeper.”

The Tigers – who have already agreed to keep Dan Worthington and Corey Newman following loan spells from Boston at the end of last term – are also hoping to secure the signing of highly-rated Pilgrims winger Louis Saebe.

Worthington and Saebe both featured in Saturday’s 2-0 pre-season friendly defeat at Spalding United.

Holbeach assistant-boss Tom Roberts said: “I didn’t see the penalty incident but the second goal was a good finish after we gave the ball away in midfield.

“We didn’t get ourselves squared up with play and that’s something we need to sort out.

“Our system can be flexible when players like Tommy Treacher and Andrew Tidswell come back. But this was a good test and we are not a million miles away.

“We are not too far off but if we can bring in a little bit of quality then we will look to do that before we start the season at Desborough Town on August 8.”

Former Kettering Town winger Louis Hamilton will get a chance to impress in Tuesday night’s friendly at home to March Town.

Bourne Town head to Pinchbeck United on Tuesday following Saturday’s 3-0 home win over Stilton United.

Deeping Rangers will be at home to Peterborough United’s under-18s on Tuesday. The friendly against Radcliffe Olympic was cancelled at the weekend.
