HOLBEACH United’s Outgang Road hoodoo continued as Deeping Rangers beat them 3-1 in the FA Vase on Saturday, while Spalding United needed extra time to see off Greenwood Meadows 2-1.

Seeking their first win at Deeping’s ground since March 2004, the Tigers made a great start thanks to Jonny Allen’s deflected 12th minute opener.

Mitch Griffiths then missed an excellent chance to double Holbeach’s lead, before a Josh Moreman cross was scrambled home by the excellent Mark Jones at the other end to level matters just past the half hour.

The second half was nip and tuck, but that man Jones stole in to put Deeping ahead 15 minutes from time. A high cross from Adam Fenton was spilled by Holbeach keeper James Lambley under pressure from the Rangers hitman, who tapped home his 13th of the season in all competitions.

Needing a goal to force extra time, the Tigers were stung by a late third from Josh Moreman. The speedy striker robbed Ben Brown and slotted past Lambley to send Tuncay Korkmaz’s depleted side into the next round.

They’re joined in the hat by Spalding, who edged out Greenwood at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field.

Having fallen behind early on, Dan French levelled for the Tulips in the first half. That’s how it stayed until extra time, when Liam Harrold fired a winner for Andy Stanhope’s men.

That victory snaps a four-game winless streak for Spalding.

Down in UCL Division One, Bourne Town’s poor run of form continued with a 2-0 loss at Wootton Blue Cross. It’s just one win in ten league games for Darren Munton’s charges.

There was better news for Pinchbeck United, Moulton Harrox and Deeping Rangers Reserves in the PFA Senior Cup though.

Ian Dunn’s strike was enough to guide Pinchbeck to a 1-0 victory over Powerleague, while Harrox smashed six past Stamford Bels. Ash Allen got two, with Steve Mastin, Sean Gedney, Joe Townsend, and John Ball also on target.

Deeping also progressed with a fine 2-1 win over St Neots Town Reserves, Lewis Leckie hitting both goals.
