Spalding United’s trip to Gresley tonight has been called off.

The postponement means Tulips captain Gary King will complete a two-match ban on Saturday when they head to second-placed Alvechurch.

At the weekend, Spalding were held 1-1 by Belper Town.

Danny Brooks’ early penalty was cancelled out by a second-half equaliser - but manager Chris Rawlinson was happy with another point.

He said: “The weather conditions affected the game and made it very difficult.

“Belper played some nice football and we saw two completely different styles, although it was quite even.

“We can’t argue with the result because the free-kick was worthy of a point in any game.

“Our pressure maybe could have nicked a goal but we looked a little bit short because of injuries and suspensions.

“We couldn’t change anything off the bench when our options were limited.

“We were 1-0 up but we had a bad 10-minute spell which included the equaliser.

Three months ago, we would have lost that game. Now we are not getting beaten but we have to find a way of winning.

“We need to score more goals but our league position is probably about right at the moment.

“We are not too disappointed with Saturday’s point, even though we were 1-0 up at half-time.”

Striker Jonny Lockie should be back soon after concussion forced last midweek’s home game against Frickley Athletic to be abandoned.

Ben Davison was left on the bench on Saturday to protect a hamstring injury.

He is likely to be pushed further forward on his return to action because Kern Miller has rejoined Spalding’s defence.

Rawlinson added: “We wanted to put Miller in the middle which also allows Davison to play in midfield or up front.

“He did well at centre-half but he has a lot of energy.

“I’m happy with the squad when we have everyone available.”
