FOOTBALL: Deeping ‘favourites’ for derby, Chand to ring changes

Deeping Rangers v Spalding United (tonight, 7.45pm): SPALDING supremo Andy Stanhope admits Deeping are favourites ahead of this derby duel.

Tuncay Korkmaz’s Rangers knocked the Tulips out of the FA Cup earlier in the season and held them to a 1-1 draw in the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field reverse.

Both sides come into the UCL Premier Division derby clash with depleted squads – but there appears to be light at the end of the tunnel for Rangers.

Skipper Adam Weston should be back on the bench, while ex-Spalding captain Matty Evans and midfielder Dave Burton-Jones face fitness tests.

Stanhope said: “Deeping are a very good side and it’ll be tough for us.

“They’re probably stronger than us at this moment in time.”

Spalding hope to have Jammal Shahin available, but will be without defender Danny Hussey (groin).

Blackstones v Holbeach United (tomorrow, 7.45pm)

JOHN Chand is expected to ring the changes as the Tigers bid to leapfrog Stones into the UCL Premier Division top four.

Keeper Leigh Overton and midfielder Matt Warfield are both pushing for a start, but the versatile Lewis Brooks (groin) is out for up to two weeks.

Paul Goodhand (Achilles) could also return, but the Tigers are not rushing him back to action.
