Deeping Rangers are setting off on the road to Wembley – via the Norfolk coast.

Eight days after their 3-0 home defeat to AFC Rushden & Diamonds in the Emirates FA Cup, Michael Goode’s men switch their focus to the FA Vase.

They face Great Yarmouth Town on Saturday in the second qualifying round with prize money of £800 also on offer.

The Bloaters knocked out Deeping’s ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division rivals Boston Town in the previous stage.

They have also won seven out of eight to sit second in the Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties League’s First Division.

After last Saturday’s game, Goode was left frustrated at a free week as the derby date with Holbeach United was called off due to the Tigers’ FA Cup replay at Worcester City.

Goode said: “I think it’s unfortunate that we’ve had a free week now.

“We didn’t feel tired for the FA Cup replay with Leek Town and we would have liked a league game in midweek.

“Instead we will need to regroup and make sure we are fresh again at the weekend.”

Meanwhile, Bourne Town are also heading east as they face Eastern Counties League Premier Division side Swaffham Town.
