Marcus Ebdon is ready for the challenge after signing a deal as Spalding United’s manager.
His promotion was finalised at a meeting of the Tulips’ board of directors on Tuesday following the squad’s training session.
Coach Danny Hussey, who worked alongside Ebdon following the resignation of Pat Rayment, is elevated to assistant manager.
During their short caretaker partnership Ebdon, who had been assistant manager since the start of the 2011/12 season, and Hussey have guided Spalding to two convincing league victories and a penalty shoot-out loss to higher-level Matlock Town in the League Cup.
A vastly experienced former professional with Everton, Peterborough United, Chesterfield and Leyton Orient, Ebdon also had a spell as player-manager at Alfrerton Town.
He said: “I look forward to the challenge of taking the club forward with Danny as my assistant.
From the outset we wanted to appoint from within the club and Marcus and Danny were the obvious choices. We all look forward to working together as a complete team.Chairman Andy Gay
“From our short time as caretaker managers we have made a good start with the team playing some good football as was shown at Leek Town on Saturday.”
Chairman Andy Gay added: “From the outset we wanted to appoint from within the club and Marcus and Danny were the obvious choices. We all look forward to working together as a complete team.”
