Jack McGovern’s sixth-minute header sent Spalding United to a third successive defeat on Boxing Day.

The former Tulips midfielder got the only goal of a poor game as Lincoln United extended their unbeaten run in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division South.

McGovern nodded in Rob Norris’ corner and that proved enough, although Spalding left-back Adam Jackson had three long-range efforts.

Jackson smashed a 30-yard drive off the bar while Michael Duggan kept out ex-Holbeach United forward Gary King’s second-half strike.

Meanwhile, Holbeach’s trip to Wisbech Town in the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division was called off on Christmas Eve due to a waterlogged pitch.

There was derby delight for Bourne Town against Blackstones in Division One.

Zak Munton’s early header at Abbey Lawn earned maximum points for the Wakes.
