New boss Dave Frecklington wants to finalise Spalding United’s squad before the end of this month.
He has already opened talks with players who ended last season with the Tulips.
Frecklington – who was appointed on Sunday with a three-year contract – has also spoken to transfer targets.
The former Lincoln United chief said: “It’s going well so far.
“We’ve had some very good conversations and those talks are ongoing.
“It has been a busy time since the weekend but I’d like to tie up all our business by the end of May.

“I want to chill out for the whole of June but before then we need to sort out players, pre-season training and our fixtures.
“I’d like to get the squad settled down and then take a well-earned break.
“We are in talks with five or six possible recruits as well as the current squad.
“They include a striker and a centre-half from the league above.
“We are in lengthy talks and I’m looking for positive feedback.
“I’ve had those targets since the end of last season when I was at Lincoln.”
Frecklington revealed he has spoken to goalkeeper Michael Duggan, skipper Nathan Stainfield, defenders Neal Spafford and Paul Walker plus striker Tom Waumsley – describing them as “five key members of the squad to keep”.
He is also set to meet with left-back Adam Jackson, forward Charley Sanders and midfielder Sam Murphy in the next few days.
Spalding’s programme of pre-season games will kick off away to Boston United on Tuesday, July 12.
They meet in the quarter-final of the Lincolnshire FA Senior Cup sponsored by Bluefin Sport.
The winners will be away to Stamford or Grimsby Town on or before July 23.
Frecklington added: “I’d like to think the players will keep themselves in good nick over the summer but the game at Boston is a little bit early in pre-season. It will be a good test for us, though.”
