Spalding United and Holbeach United both suffered quarter-final defeats in the Lincolnshire FA Senior Trophy on Tuesday night.

The Tulips lost out to a single strike as Stamford as Lewis Carr’s 63rd-minute goal proved decisive.

The Tigers went down 2-0 at Grantham Town with goals from Corey Newman (20) and Stefan Bilyk (46).

Deeping Rangers’ six-match unbeaten run was ended by Boston Town in the UCL Premier Division.

Matt Carter was sent off for a professional foul on 28 minutes when he brought down Aaron Eyett inside the penalty box.

Jack Wightwick’s spot-kick was saved by Dan Bircham but he converted the rebound.

Wightwick doubled the Poachers’ advantage eight minutes into the second half, although Deeping claimed he was offside from a quickly-taken free-kick.

Jezz Goldson-Williams pulled one back on 84 minutes but the ten men could not salvage a point.
