Spalding United’s wait goes on for their first away win since November.

The Tulips - who slipped out of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division South’s promotion play-off pack at the weekend - went down 2-0 at Gresley who recorded a fourth successive home league win.

Jordan Ball broke the deadlock six minutes before half-time and player-manager Gary Ricketts doubled the lead on 72 minutes.

Both players were also on target when Spalding lost 3-0 at home to Gresley in December.

Tom Waumsley wasted a hat-trick of chances while Charley Sanders’ header was saved early in the second half.

However, Spalding were unable to cancel out Ball’s opener and Ricketts made it 2-0 in his final appearance before a four-match ban.

Meanwhile, Holbeach United’s trip to Rothwell Corinthians was abandoned on 73 minutes due to a serious calf injury to defender Nick Jackson.

The Tigers were trailing 4-1 in the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League’s Premier Division having taken an early lead with Sean Coughlan’s third goal in three games.

Ryan Goodband levelled and on the stroke of half-time Kalon Peniasko put Corinthians in front.

The Northamptonshire side made it 3-1 midway through the second half and soon afterwards Jordan Henson added the fourth home goal.
