Pinchbeck United ended their ten-game winless streak with a gutsy 1-0 success at Ramsey Town in the Premier Division on Saturday.

After a goalless first period that United had much the better of, Aidan Moore headed home his maiden first team goal from just three yards after the ball came back off the bar.

But Pinchbeck were indebted to keeper Liam Dawson, who pulled off a superb late penalty save to clinch a third league win of the season for his struggling side.

United assistant boss Gary Coomes said: “This was a gutsy performance at a place that is always hard to get points.

“But to be honest the lads outplayed Ramsey and should maybe have won by more goals.”

Pinchbeck: Dawson, Eyett, Butler, Chilvers, Gardner, Wycherley, Dickinson, Haslam, Edgaras, Moore, Wheeler (Beale 70). Not used: Elderkin.

• Macauley Grimwood fired all four goals as Holbeach United Reserves crushed Oundle Town 4-0 in Division One on Saturday.

The Carter’s Park success leaves Omar Joof’s side ten points off top spot with two games in hand.

Tigers Res: Kirk, Barnes, Brady, Brooks, Broom, Lambe, Elston, Grimwood, Shepherd, Smith, Wiggins.

• Moulton Harrox remain on-course to retain their Lincs Junior Cup crown after a battling 1-0 win at old foes Gainsborough Town FC on Saturday.

In what was a repeat of last year’s final, Ben Allen fired the only goal to book Moulton a trip to Scunthorpe-based College Wanderers in the next round.

That tie is due to take place on January 11.

Harrox: Kenealy, Cairns, Clarkson, Groves, Hall, Patterson, Sandall, Steadman, Townsend, Watkin, Allen.
