HOLBEACH United U/9s completed a remarkable turnaround by winning their first-ever competitive tournament – and it was on home soil.

Just two years after losing their maiden game 12-0 to Hampton, they beat the same team to lift the annual Holbeach United Youth Tournament title.

The lads played six games against the likes of Hampton, Malbourne, Wisbech Acorns, Boston, Outwell Swifts and Riverside, with a set of good results securing them a semi-final berth.

Riverside stood in their way, but the young Tigers managed to win 1-0 and progress to the final.

The final against Hampton was played in great spirit and in front of a large crowd, as Stuart Clark’s side prevailed 1-0.

• HOLBEACH U/9s are looking for further players and sponsors to join this season.

The young Tigers play in the Fenland League, with training sessions taking place on Thursday night (5.45pm-7.15pm).

Anyone interested in joining or sponsoring the squad can contact Stuart Clark on 07831 400052 for further details.

Any managers looking to arrange pre-season friendlies please also call Clark to arrange.
