SPALDING United and Holbeach United both registered wins on Saturday, while Deeping Rangers were shocked at Desborough Town and the derby between Pinchbeck United and Moulton Harrox ended goalless.

Watched by new boss Pat Rayment, goals from Simon Ashton and Tom James earned the Tulips a 2-1 win over Thrapston Town as they made it four games unbeaten in the UCL Premier Division.

It wasn’t such good news for Deeping though, as they were stunned 4-1 at the home of the basement boys. New signing from Boston Town Alex Beck did haul Tuncay Korkmaz’s men back to 3-1 at some stage, but it wasn’t enough.

To make matters worse, defender Steve Julian was sent off

In the UCL League Cup, Holbeach booked a home quarter-final with Deeping after edging past Division One outfit Wootton Blue Cross 1-0 at Carter’s Park. Ash Stevens fired the only goal of the game in the second half.

Down in UCL Division One, Bourne Town picked up a decent 0-0 draw at Harborough Town on Friday night.

There was a stalemate at Broad Lane in the Peterborough Premier League too, as Moulton and Pinchbeck cancelled each other out.

Ian Dunn missed Pinchbeck’s best chance in the first half, slotting straight at the keeper from six yards. After the break United had more chances, but Moulton defender Bobby Patterson headed the best one over in the closing stages.
