FOOTBALL: Tulips’ squad close to complete

Have your say

TULIPS boss Andy Stanhope believes that he is only a couple of players short of the squad he wants to challenge for the United Counties League title.

It’s been a busy week for the manager with three of last season’s squad re-signing.

Striker Jamal Shahin, defender Shaun Baker and midfielder Jake Thompson all put pen to paper with left-footed dead ball specialist Ryan O’Loughlin (18), who has just been released from Conference club Grimsby Town.

Stanhope said: “I’m delighted Ryan has agreed to join us. He’s very good on the ball and can play in midfield or up front.

“We’re not far off what I want now.”

The Tulips get pre-season training under way next Thursday and Stanhope has extended an invitation to anyone who wants a trial to get in touch with the club.
