SPALDING United battled back from 2-0 down to earn a 2-2 draw against Louth Town Reserves on Tuesday night, while Deeping Rangers were beaten 3-2 by Godmanchester.
Having lost their previous two friendlies without scoring, the Tulips needed late strikes from defender Miles Chamberlain and hitman Jacob Joyce to prevent what would have been a pretty embarrassing loss at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field.
Pat Rayment’s Tulips welcome rivals Boston United in their next friendly on Saturday (3pm).
Meanwhile, Deeping suffered their first pre-season reverse of the summer at Outgang Road. The prolific Matt Heron was among their scorers.
