FOOTBALL: Tulips and Tigers make Trophy progress

Have your say

SHANE Tolley hit another hat-trick as Spalding United won 5-0 at Boston Town in the Lincs FA Senior Trophy on Tuesday night, while Andrew Tidswell’s stunning free kick helped holders Holbeach United edge out Deeping Rangers 2-1.

It was one-way traffic at Tattershall Road, with Tolley taking his tally to 16 for the season in another five-star Spalding showing. Luke Kennedy (2) chipped in with the other two goals.

The Tulips will now make the trip to Sleaford Town in the quarter-finals, after they edged out Harrowby on penalties after a 3-3 draw.

Meanwhile, Holbeach earned a third win of the season over rivals Rangers with a hard-fought Outgang Road win.

Dave Burton-Jones slid Deeping ahead early on, but a neat Tommy Treacher finish levelled matters soon after.

That’s how it stayed until 20 minutes from time, when Tidswell bent home a sensational 30-yard strike that was fit to win any game.

John Chand’s Tigers host either Blackstones or Bourne Town in the last eight.
