Midfield maestro Andy Toyne is the subject of a cash bid by Holbeach United as they look to turn his loan move from Spalding United into a permanent one.
Toyne has been an integral part of the Tigers’ flawless start to the UCL Premier Division season, but his two-month stay at Carter’s Park comes to an end after tonight’s clash with Boston Town (Wednesday, 7.45pm).
Holbeach chief John Chand has moved to cover his exit by landing ex-King’s Lynn Town midfielder Rob Hughes – but he told the Spalding Guardian that he’ll do all he can to keep Toyne, who is on contract at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field.
“We’ve made an offer for Andy,” confirmed the Tigers supremo. “He’s very settled at Holbeach and is the kind of player we want here.
“It feels like he’s been with us for years. He’s been very influential and in his case we’re happy to offer Spalding a fee for his services.”
Tulips boss Pat Rayment has confirmed an offer is under consideration – but said the move is ultimately up to Toyne himself.
