FOOTBALL: Tigers end Boston hoodoo, Tulips lose again

Have your say

TOMMY Treacher’s double earned Holbeach United a cracking 2-1 success at Boston Town on Tuesday night, while Spalding United were hammered 3-0 at Quorn.

Having not won on their last eight visits to Tattershall Road, another UCL Premier Division loss looked on the cards for the Tigers when Craig Parker gave the hosts a 35th-minute lead.

But Treacher, making only his second appearance for John Chand’s side since joining on loan from Wisbech, levelled matters moments after the break.

The striker then fired Holbeach ahead 12 minutes from time to earn Chand his biggest win as Tigers boss.

The three points lift the Tigers up to the lofty heights of 17th place and they now look safe from relegation.

That can’t be said of the Tulips in Evo-Stik League First Division South, though.

Goals from Sam Buckingham (45), Shawn Richards (76) and Russell Peel (87) eased Quorn to a comfortable win.

With eight games to go, Spalding stay 12 points from safety.

Elsewhere, Bourne Town lost 2-0 at Eynesbury Rovers in UCL Division One.
