FOOTBALL: Prolific Moreman makes Corby Town switch

Have your say

CORBY Town have swooped to land prolific Deeping Rangers hitman Josh Moreman.

The speedy striker, who notched 37 goals for the Outgang Road club last season, makes the leap two steps up the non-league ladder.

Moreman is one of four UCL Premier Division players to join the Blue Square Bet Premier outfit the summer, with Peterborough Northern Star trio Avelino Vieira, Nathan Horne and Jon Stead also making the step up.

All four players are well known by former Northern Star supremo Chris Plummer, who is now Corby’s number two.

Spalding United target and ex-Deeping winger Ryan Semple has also move to the Steelmen this summer.

Moreman will be in direct opposition with his former Deeping strike partner Mark Jones next season. Jones, who had a stint with Corby last season, joined Boston United last month.

Deeping have signed ex-Spalding defender Simon Ashton, Boston Town’s former Holbeach United full back Loz Lambley and Peterborough Sports defender Kevin Holt – brother of midfielder Ciaran Holt – so far this summer.
